Marion Deuchars

Marion Deuchars is a Scottish award-winning author and illustrator who now lives in North London. In addition to the numerous children's books she has penned and illustrated, Mary designed her own lettering. She has worked in major corporate, publishing, interior design, and advertising projects as well as in brand development. Among Mary's commercial clients are Royal Mail Stamps, Vanity Fair, and the Imperial War Museum.

Marion designed Mexican Birds. after spending a glorious vacation traveling from Tenochitlan to Oaxaca, where she encountered images of birds everywhere she went. She later discovered that in Aztec culture, birds were considered sacred animals and envoys of good fortune. They were admired for their wisdom and respected for their mystic powers.
