Cristian Zuzunaga

Cristian Zuzunaga is a London-based artist and designer who was born and raised in Barcelona. He is the child of a Spanish mother and a Peruvian father. This multicultural background instilled in him a strong sense of curiosity and adventure. He began his professional career studying Biology and became fascinated by the microscope and the way in which it enables us to magnify an object and break it down into its smallest parts. His interest in this field of science did not last, but magnifying objects and breaking down patterns and images into their infinitesimal components did, and to this day remains at the core of his practice. He is the recipient of numerous awards and his client list includes Wallpaper Magazine, Tate Gallery, Kvadrat, Camper, Fabergé, Ligne Roset, and Nanimarquina. The “Inca” design was inspired by Cristian’s Peruvian family roots, just like Arrels Barcelona (Arrels means “roots” in Catalan) was named in honour of the founder’s textile roots. It is a pattern that underscores the importance of family and love.
