Marie Lavis is a visual artist born in 1996. Her artistic playground is characterized by vibrant colors, black and white, intricate patterns, evocative imagery, expression of emotion and life, and an exploration of the intersection between visual art and music.
Not content with confining her creativity to traditional canvases, Marie has embraced the animation medium, leveraging her artistic vision to craft short films that blur the boundaries between visual storytelling and musical expression. Her animation films have been selected at various film festivals across the globe, and enjoyed for their deep and emotive resonance.
A true collaborator at heart, Marie has forged partnerships with renowned musicians and cultural luminaries, including Bobby McFerrin, Jacob Collier, Jon Batiste and Montreux Jazz Festival. These collaborations have not only enriched her artistic practice but have also enabled her to explore new avenues of creative expression, pushing the boundaries of conventional art forms. She recently designed a doodled jacket for musician Jon Batiste, which was featured on the cover of the New York Times.
